Love for Frankies

I’ve been coming here since I was a child in the 90s and I can truly say Frankie’s is a childhood memory that you never have to keep in the past because they are still such a top notch restaurant!

My go to items are obviously their foot longs. Even as a kid I remember hating hot dogs but once I tried one at Frankie’s I became such a huge fan of them and would only get a hot dog here. These are their staple items!! I also love their cheeseburgers and clam strips.

The atmosphere is always great at Reidville or even on Watertown ave where it’s solely take out. Such a great sense of community at this establishment and top notch service! Seriously, they will get you in and out so quickly and will give you exactly what you asked for without any problems or mistakes!

I grew up knowing Frankie’s and loving it as each year passes. I no longer live in Waterbury but whenever I visit family I have to make a stop! Try it out!

Frankie’s is my favorite hotdog place.  Been going to Frankie’s since I was a kid.  Went today and got my usual sauerkraut dog, and fries.  Soo many items on the menu. Burgers are good, all fried sides are good.  Little pricey but every place is now a days.  Gets crowded but they get you in and out.  I love this one in particular they have soo many old photos and clippings to look at and read.  And to top it off they have birch bear soda which I love.

Hot dog enthusiasts, you will not be disappointed.  This location, there are many, is my favorite.  Its like a step back in time.  Very cute niche, decorated with old photos, memorabilia, pictures of customers and hanging cha skis cover every inch of this space.  They even have free popcorn in an old fashioned maker.  These foot long dogs are made by a local purveyor especially for them.  They deep fry their dogs briefly, then finish them on the flat top.  All their dogs, and the variety is outstanding, are served on a buttered & browned roll.  Their is a lot of other things to chose from tho, sausage burgers, fried clams, etc.  If you make your food a combo it comes with steak fries, curly fries, sweet potato fries or onions rings and your choice of old fashioned variety sodas.  You can also get soup, salads and a large variety of appetizers.  The key here is variety!!! You definitely wont leave hungry lol.

Frankie’s is the best! The food is super good, and made super quick. Great big portions at a reasonable price. The restaurant decor is very fun. Staff is friendly and they really care about their customer.

I was told about this place from a coworker during a business trip in the northeast. When he said that it was a hot dog spot I automatically cringed (hot dogs aren’t my thing) at the idea. He called a complete audible, he told me that their lobster rolls would blow my mind. Of course I took him up on his claim and tried it for myself because that would most definitely be a food item I would be interested in. He was right, the lobster was cooked perfectly, the warmed buttered rolls were crisped perfectly, and the lemon wedge to top it off really complimented each other well. This will be my go-to if I am in town again on business!

There are a few things I miss since living in SWFl and one of them is a good hotdog.  So, heading to Frankie’s was a must on this trip.  Once inside I was relived the line wasn’t to long.  I couldn’t wait to bite into that flavorful dog on a toasted New England style roll.  First I had to stop at the condiment station and add my favorites raw onion (I know stay away for days) and golden mustard.

They have many options including their own relish.

I also ordered a side of onion rings which were served golden and hot.  You can get many items on their menu from burgers etc., but seriously come here for the dogs.

There is a dog menu on the wall above the condiments complete with photos.

The inside is decorated with photos and memorabilia that brings you back to the old days.

The old days for me are the Frankie’s over by Municipal Stadium when we’d walk over after football or baseball games.  Just a walk up window so closes in the winter.

That was the best.

The service here is always top notch and that is why I will make it a stop every time I return to Connecticut.

Great food, even better service. My first time “eating in” here as I often take my food to go. The staff is extremely personable, and were busy keeping the place clean and keeping the customers happy. Will definitely return here again for both eat in and to-go!

Food is always excellent. Priced like a fast food joints but quality is so much better. Staff is remarkable! They are friendly and check on your satisfaction while you eat. Not typical for a hot dog joint. Don’t know who does the hiring, but the crew here is a step above.
